Recognizing Excellence In Emergency Nursing
New Awards and Scholarships!!!
When is the last time you commended a colleague or peer for his or her hard work? Perhaps they helped develop a new program in your ED or participated in a work group to redesign your ED. We have so many positive activities in Louisiana and I want you to be a part of recognizing excellence in emergency nursing. Please begin thinking about nominees as awards are arriving early this year. We will recognize these individuals in New Orleans at our August conference. We will also present our first Louisiana scholarships in memory of Keith Richard and Tim Butcher. I know there are many of you are advancing your education and we want to support your future endeavors to continue bringing quality nursing care to Louisiana. I look forward to finding a full mailbox, fax machine and email box!

Leadership Award
This award honors a nurse who has provided exceptional leadership skills in emergency nursing and is an example to all emergency nurses.
Nurse Educator Award
This award honors a nurse who has made significant contributions to the education of colleagues, nursing students, EMS personnel, patients, families or the community through the publication of articles, formal or informal courses, or the development of a specific emergency nursing program or curriculum.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors a nurse whose career reflects dedicated service, accomplishments and/or contributions to emergency nursing. The special significance of the Lifetime Achievement Award is the enduring nature of the achievements and that the accomplishments and/or contributions have value to emergency nursing beyond the recipient’s lifetime.
Mae Webb Excellence in Emergency Nursing Award
Named in honor of Louisiana’s ENA founder, this award honors a member who has consistently demonstrated excellence in emergency nursing and has made significant contributions to the profession of emergency nursing and the Louisiana ENA.
Nursing Practice Award
This award honors a nurse who exemplifies outstanding nursing practice as demonstrated through clinical skills, care and compassion.
Nurse Manager Award
This award honors a nurse who has consistently demonstrated excellence in the profession of emergency nursing and made significant contributions to the profession of emergency nursing management.

Injury Prevention Advocate Award
This award honors an active ENA Injury Prevention/EN CARE volunteer who has served as a leader in the development and promotion of injury prevention programs in Louisiana.

New Scholarships
Keith Richard Emergency Nurse Advanced Nursing Practice Scholarship
This $500 scholarship honors the memory of Keith Richard. Applicants should be a Louisiana ENA member who is pursuing an advanced degree with a focus on emergency nursing.
Tim Butcher Educational Scholarship
This $500 scholarship honors the memory of Tim Butcher. Applicants should be a Louisiana ENA member who is in pursuit of advancing their education, baccalaureate degree or higher preferably with a focus on nursing education.
